Waikato utility forward Paul Ravlich came off the bench in one Test for the Kiwis against the 1979 Lions tourists.

The 1964 New Zealand Schoolboys rep and Huntly South stalwart represented Waikato from 1968-81, while he first played against Great Britain as a loose forward for North Island in 1974 and lined up at prop for the same team against England in 1975.

As well as playing for Northern Districts against Great Britain at hooker, Ravlich was called up as a reserve for three Tests and made it onto the field for New Zealand’s face-saving 18-11 victory in the third encounter at Carlaw Park.
