Veteran West Coast centre Bill Johnsen broke into the New Zealand Test team for the series against the 1974 Lions.The Runanga stalwart began a decade-long tenure in the West Coast provincial side as a teenager in 1965 and represented South Island against France in 1969.New Zealand Colts' captain for the 1973 tour of Queensland, Johnsen was chosen in a new-look Kiwis three-quarter line for the following season's home rubber against Great Britain.The 28-year-old featured in the centres in all three Tests of the 2-1 series defeat.
