The fleet-footed centre/winger played in the inaugural interisland game in 1925 and played three Tests on the troubled 1926-27 tour of Britain among 25 appearances.

Davidson stayed on in England with Wigan and scored 31 tries in 67 games.

After returning home in 1930, he played for Auckland and a New Zealand Presidents XIII against England, as well as lining up on the wing in the second Test loss in Christchurch.

Davidson coached City Rovers for a season after hanging up the boots.
