Alan Riechelmann biography

Powerful Auckland centre Alan Riechelmann toured Australia with the 1952 Kiwis.From the Marist club, the 22-year-old was kept out of the series-winning Test team by Tommy Baxter in Ron McKay, but he played in matches against Newcastle, Central Queensland, Central West Queensland and Toowoomba, scoring a try in the latter.Riechelmann represented Hawke's Bay in rugby union in 1953-54 while posted there for work, but he returned to rugby league and Marist in 1955, turning out at provincial level for Auckland.A nephew, Charles Riechelmann, became an All Black in the late-1990s.
