Alf Mitchell biography

Richmond winger Alf Mitchell played one Test for New Zealand against Australia in 1935.Born to a Samoan mother and English father, Mitchell is credited as the first known Pasifika player to represent the Kiwis - he replaced former All Black Herb Lilburne on the wing for the deciding third Test, which Australia won 29-8 at Carlaw Park.Mitchell featured in the subsequent tour-ending match between Auckland and Australia. His younger brother, George, was later chosen for the Kiwis in 1939.
