Test record: 1 Test (1932) - 3 goals (6 points)
The younger brother of 1919-25 Kiwi Henry 'Bert' Laing, Albert played one Test against the 1932 English tourists.
Albert Laing came through the grades at Devonport United during the second half of the 1920s and had the unique distinction of representing Auckland at five-eighth in 1931 before he had made his top-grade club debut.
He was a tryscorer in Devonport's clash with touring Sydney club Eastern Suburbs in 1931 before switching to fullback the following season and earning a New Zealand call-up for the series opener against England following strong performances in a Probables-Possibles match and for North Island.
On his 24th birthday, Laing kicked three goals in a 24-9 loss to the tourists at Carlaw Park. He was replaced at fullback for the second Test by Steve Watene.
Laing represented Auckland again in 1933 and played with Devonport until 1934.
