Auckland winger Bevin Hough played nine Tests for New Zealand during the first half of the 1950s.
The athletics star won national titles in triple jump and long jump.
After winning a silver medal in the long jump at the 1950 Empire Games in Auckland, Hough was called up by the Kiwis later that year to play in both Tests of the 2-0 series win over Great Britain - scoring a try in the second.
Hough faced France in the one-off Test win at Carlaw Park in 1951 then was named in the Kiwis' squad to tour Britain and France. He led the team with 17 tries in 27 games, playing in five Tests (two each against Great Britain and France, one against Wales) and scoring tries in the third Test loss to Great Britain and the series-opening defeat to France.
The 22-year-old also bagged doubles in back-to-back wins over Warrington and Batley.
Hough scored six tries in seven games on the Kiwis' 1952 tour of Australia, but Jim Edwards, Cyril Eastlake and Bill McKenzie were preferred on the wings for the Test matches. He played once more for New Zealand: in a 25-5 win over Australia in Christchurch in 1953.
He played his club football for Richmond and Papakura.
