Marist and Auckland prop Bill Stormont represented New Zealand during the 1920 home series against England.
England-born Stormont served in the NZ Army in World War I before joining Marist, representing Auckland in its win over England in 1920 and getting a call-up to the New Zealand team.
The 21-year-old partnered captain Stan Walters in the front-row in all three Tests of the 3-0 whitewash loss.
Further opportunities for the national side were not forthcoming, but he continued to play for Auckland - including against England in 1924, the same year he led Marist to a Fox Memorial triumph.
Stormont died from rheumatic heart disease less than a year later, aged just 26. His family donated the William Stormont Memorial Shield to the Auckland Rugby League that year - awarded to the winner of champion of champions playoff between the Fox Memorial and Roope Rooster victors.
