Bill Tyler was a versatile performer on the trailblazing 1907-08 'All Golds' tour of Britain and Australia.

The brother of All Blacks rep George Tyler, he played rugby union for the City club and was an Auckland regular before joining the 'professional All Blacks' for their ambitious trip.

Tyler played in front-row, back-row, and at wing, centre and five-eighth for the All Golds. He featured in three of the Tests against England and Northern Union, as well as all three Tests against Australia on the way home.

He played in Auckland's first provincial match against Wellington upon the New Zealand team's return in 1908 and helped establish the Ponsonby United club.
