Forward James Parker played one Test for New Zealand in 1914 from Taranaki and toured Australia with the Kiwis five years later from Wellington.
Parker played for the Petone club and represented Wellington against NSW in 1913. Moving to Taranaki, he was selected in the front-row for the one-off Test against Northern Union in 1914, which New Zealand lost 16-13 at the Domain Cricket Ground in Auckland.
When international competition resumed after World War I, Parker – back in Wellington – was chosen in New Zealand’s squad to tour Australia in 1919. He made six appearances on tour, including two matches against NSW and one against Queensland (no Tests were scheduled).
Parker was named in Taranaki’s Team of the Century in 2008.
