Centre/five-eighth Frank Woodward played in the historic home Test against England in 1910 and toured Australia with the New Zealand team the following season, before venturing to Britain as part of a Kiwi quartet in the 1911-12 Kangaroo Tour squad.

Switching to rugby league in 1909 with North Shore, Woodward scored two tries as a centre in Rotorua’s 54-18 loss to the Northern Union tourists in 1910 – earning him a call-up at five-eighth for the one-off Test in Auckland four days later. The Englishman won the match 52-20.

Woodward played for the Tukapa club in Rotorua and scored four tries in eight appearances at wing, centre and five-eighth on New Zealand’s 1911 tour of Australia.

Invited to be part of the ‘Australasian’ touring squad alongside fellow New Zealanders George Gillet, Charles Savory and Arthur ‘Bolla’ Francis, Woodward played six matches in Britain – all victories – including a match against Wales.

Woodward also played for the tourists against Hunter & Northern upon their return to Australia, while his last major representative assignment was for Auckland against the visiting NSW side in 1913.
