Waikato hooker Don Parkinson was part of New Zealand’s 1968 World Cup squad.
A versatile engine-room performer and a prolific pointscorer at club level for Taniwharau and on the provincial scene for Waikato, Parkinson represented North Island Māori against France (1964) and New Zealand Māori against New Zealand Marist (1967) and NSW Country (1968).
Parkinson was selected as Colin O’Neil’s hooker understudy for the ’68 World Cup but did not take the field in any of the Kiwis’ three matches in the New Zealand- and Australia-hosted tournament.
