Auckland loose forward Allan Laird toured Australia with the Kiwis in 1948.
A standout in services rugby union and league teams during World War II, he also played for Oldham while stationed in England.
Scotland-born Laird represented North Island in 1946 upon his return to New Zealand.
Called up to the New Zealand touring party two years later, Laird debuted at lock in the tour opener against NSW – scoring a try in a spirited 23-17 loss. His other two appearances were in wins over Northern Division (again dotting down for a try) and Central Queensland.
Laird, who played for Ponsonby and Richmond at club level, represented Northern Provinces and Auckland against the 1949 Australian tourists.
