Auckland halfback/five-eighth Alfred Jackson toured Australia with the New Zealand side in 1913.
Jackson lined up for Auckland in its first officially sanctioned team against Taranaki in 1909 and against England in 1910, with the tourists winning 52-9. He played for North Shore Albions.
A national call-up came three years later, playing three matches on New Zealand’s tour of Australia at halfback – in a 31-12 loss to NSW, in which he opposed the great Arthur ‘Pony’ Halloway, and wins over Ipswich (29-12) and Orange (27-5).
