GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Team Manager will be the key person responsible for liaising between the team and NZRL. As part of the management team you will be a role model for the players and other management staff members. There is an expectation that all management staff will adhere to the NZRL pledge and live these values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key logistical contact for the team with the NZRL High-Performance team
  • Maintain a current list of players in the squad along with appropriate contact details and health/emergency information
  • Manage all travel, accommodation, apparel and meal requirements for the team
  • Account for and manage all campaign financial matters
  • Assist team management in any reasonable manner to ensure the smooth operation of the team/campaign and match day
  • Where appropriate receive and return team equipment and uniforms to NZRL at the completion of the campaign
  • Co-ordinate the team photo with the designated photographer providing full names spelt correctly

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Managing of a team in the Men’s NZRL National Premiership, Southern or Northern Championship competitions
  • Holds a current and valid NZRL Level 1 Manager’s certificate
  • NZRL Zone 17s or Premier club level experience preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant role
  • The ability to plan and prioritise their own tasks and activities
  • Strong communication and organisation skills
  • Leadership and diplomacy skills
Planning and Reporting:
Prepare Report in NZRL prescribed format to be completed within the agreed deadline
Assessment of the suitability of suppliers used for Team needs in terms of cost versus quality
  Personal Attributes:
Shows initiative and determination to finish all duties and specified tasks
Highly motivated and determined to achieve any given task and/or challenges that may be faced
Flexible and understanding of different cultures and backgrounds when dealing with people

Director Positions

Upper Central Zone Rugby League is seeking applicants for two Independent Directors and two Rugby League Knowledgeable Director (knowledge of and experience in the sport of Rugby League).

All board members need to understand confidentiality, work collaboratively, possess sound judgment, have good communication and be able to demonstrate leadership ability.

Candidates who have the skill sets set out below and who can bring an element of diversity, particularly gender, to the current board mix will be looked upon favourably by the Appointments Panel.

The Appointments Panel will be assessing candidates against a range of criteria, including but not limited to:

  • A strong connection to the game of rugby league either through playing, administration, management, coaching or other roles within the sport.

NZRL are now open to receiving applications of interest for the role of National Playgroups Manager.

POSITION PURPOSE

 The National Playgroups Manager oversees the implementation of the NZRL early childhood education playgroup project in partnership with the Ministry of Education.

The project focus is on the development and sustainable implementation of playgroups for young children and their families through rugby league club facilities.

This position requires a self-motivated, passionate, connected and capable person to provide educational experiences for young children, in a fun setting, that enhances their capacity to achieve as they move into primary school or kindergarten. This is a parent-led initiative and therefore the Playgroups Manager will need to ensure activities are suitable for pre-school aged children and their families.

The Playgroups Manager champions the values of the NZRL and encourages participation by parents in the running of the playgroups while role modelling interaction and management behaviours so that parents may learn these skills and contribute to the supported playgroups.

The role requires that the playgroups work towards building a sustainable model that can be replicated at a national level. Each playgroup has individual needs and the Playgroups Manager and staff will work towards developing a community link that each playgroup can become involved with, or lead on, community initiatives.

  • A fundamental understanding of Community Sport and ideally experience within Rugby League.
  • Outstanding relationship management skills and experience with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven background with successfully managing internal and external stakeholder relationships that have been critical to the achievement of targets.
  • Understanding of community sport funding processes and developing programmes that can attract investment from external agencies is preferred.

The NZRL The Football Operations Manager will be responsible for managing day to day operations and logistics for all NZRL Competitions, Tournaments and Events to ensure they comply with the NZRL rules and regulations as well as ensuring they are delivered to the very highest standard.

This includes managing all Football aspects of events including coordinating various requirements (match management, match officials etc) as well as arranging all logistical aspects such as flights, transport, accommodation, venues, fields, pre & post-match requirements etc.

You will develop and maintain relationships with key external partners and providers, various venue staff, Zone / District liaisons, local authorities as well as working closely with appropriate Zone, Districts and Associates personnel to ensure all football activities, initiatives and KPI’s are constantly driven and are of the highest standard.

Taranaki Rugby Football League Inc is the regional organisation charged with leading, developing, promoting and fostering Rugby League in their local area.  They are a member of the Mid Central Zone of NZ Rugby League.

The Reporting to the NZRL Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will lead NZRL in a well-managed, successful and profitable manner as well as implementing high performance standards and expectations throughout the organization.

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of stakeholder management plans, business plans and strategies that grow the game across all levels and secures ongoing revenue streams that ensure the long-term security and viability of NZRL. Increasing the consumer, corporate, fan and participation base through the development and implementation of a well executed strategy and business plan will be very important. You will also be responsible for working closely with the Football Operations and High-Performance team to deliver sustainable long-term performance on the field.

Essential to the success of this role will require building and developing high value, long term, outcome focused relationships with Clubs, Zones, Districts, the NRL, Sport New Zealand, Commercial Partners and other key agencies and stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES

You will have proven Chief Executive Officer or Senior Executive experience including reporting into a board. You will possess exceptional leadership capabilities and management experience, ability to develop and implement strategic change, strong commercial acumen and possess outstanding ability to build, develop and harness sustainable relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.

The successful candidate will be a resilient, dynamic and engaging individual with political maturity and experience with the media as the CEO will be the face and voice of rugby league in New Zealand. Knowledge and understanding of national sporting organisations as well as an interest in rugby league will be well regarded but is not essential.
