JOB TITLE: NZRL Resident Secondary School Girls & 18’s Resident Girls School Manager      

HOURS OF WORK: This is a voluntary role that requires a commitment of some weekend work and a camp for the campaign.

APPOINTMENT TERM: One (1) year plus an additional one (1) year pending campaign review. 

REPORT TO: Kiws & National Teams Manager and the Head Coach

Rugby league has played a significant part in New Zealand sport for over 100 years. Formed in 1910, New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) is the governing body for the sport of rugby league in New Zealand. With a commitment to growing the female game, providing positive experiences and opportunities for female youth players to participate in rugby league. The New Zealand Secondary Schools and New Zealand Resident 18’s Girls representative teams contribute to the female pathway, which leads to and includes the NRLW and NZRL Kiwi Ferns.

The successful candidate will be appointed in the dual role of NZRL Secondary School Girls and NZ Resident 18s Girls team Head Coach.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Team Manager will be the key person responsible for liaising between the team and the NZRL. As part of the management team, you will be a role model for the players and other management staff members. There is an expectation that all management staff will adhere to the NZRL Kiwi Way philosophy.

KEY INFORMATION & DATES:

  • The NZ Secondary School Girls team will be selected from the NZRL Secondary School Girls Trial (from schools that officially registered for the NZRL National Secondary Schools).
  • The NZRL Secondary School Girls will play the Auckland Rugby League Region of Origin Girls 18s team.
  • The NZRL Resident 18s Girls team will be selected from the NZ Secondary School Girls and Auckland Rugby League Region of Origin Girls 18s game.
  • The NZ Resident 18s Girls will play the NZMRL Kotiro 18s.

Team Selection dates

2nd – 3rd October 2021 – Auckland

Campaign dates:

Date & Venue TBC  (NZ Secondary School Girls Vs Auckland Region of Origin Girls)

Wednesday 20th – Sunday 24th October 2021 (NZ Resident 18s Girls Vs NZMRL Kotiro 18s)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key logistical contact for the team with the NZRL Football/High-Performance and Coaching and Development team
  • Maintain a current list of players in the squad along with appropriate contact details and health/emergency information
  • Manage all travel, accommodation, apparel and meal requirements for the team as per team/campaign guidelines
  • Account for and manage all campaign financial matters and in line with respective budgets
  • Assist team management in any reasonable manner to ensure the smooth operation of the team/campaign and match day
  • In line with the “Kiwi Way” philosophy, ensure the appropriate professionalism, high standards and ethics expected of an NZRL representative team is understood and adhered to across all team members (staff and players) at all times.
  • Where appropriate, receive and return team equipment and uniforms to NZRL after the campaign
  • Co-ordinate the team photo with the designated photographer providing full names spelt correctly

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Holds a current and valid NZRL Level 1 or Kiwi League Foundation Manager’s certificate
  • Experience in managing women or girls is preferable but not necessary
  • NZRL Zone 17s or Premier club level experience preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant role
  • The ability to plan and prioritise their own tasks and activities
  • Strong communication and organisation skills
  • Leadership and diplomacy skills

Planning and Reporting:

  • Assessment of the suitability of suppliers used for Team needs in terms of cost versus quality
  • Complete a campaign report in NZRL prescribed format within the agreed deadline
