Auckland utility-back Ngaroma ‘Lummy’ Graham came off the bench in all three of New Zealand’s matches at the 1970 World Cup.

The Manukau star replaced winger Bob McGuinn during the second half of the Kiwis’ tournament-opening 47-11 loss to Australia at Wigan and made appearances as a reserve in the one-point win over France and the 10-point defeat to Great Britain.

New Zealand made a five-match tour of Britain and France after the World Cup and played four matches at fullback in wins over Barrow, Bradford Northern, Salford and France B, before coming off the pine again against France A.

Graham was nominated by coach Lory Blanchard as the Kiwis’ most improved player of the trip.
