Winger Ivan Littlewood represented New Zealand against the revered Queensland tourists of 1925.

Hailing from the Waikato, Littlewood represented the province against Australia in 1919 as a teenager before moving to Auckland with the Maritime club in 1921. He represented Auckland against Wellington that year.

The prolific tryscorer joined Ponsonby United in 1922 and represented both Auckland and South Auckland (the latter during a brief return to his home province) against a star-studded NSW touring side.

Littlewood’s sole appearance for his country came three years later, featuring on the flank in a 35-14 defeat to Queensland at Carlaw Park.

After representing North Island in 1926, Littlewood had a three-season stint with Ellerslie United but made a controversial switch to rugby union club City in 1929, playing alongside another former Kiwi in Karl Ifwersen.

He hung up the boots at the end of 1929 but later gained reinstatement to rugby league in order to play for Ponsonby United in 1934.
