Big Auckland prop Frank Tinitelia played one Test for New Zealand in 1983.

The 23-year-old scored an iconic try for Otahuhu in the 1983 Tusk Cup final – powering through and fending off seven would-be defenders on an incredible 70-metre charge to the line – and also starred in the club’s Fox Memorial final victory.

Tinitelia was subsequently selected at prop for the Kiwis’ one-off clash with Papua New Guinea, which the home side won easily at Carlaw Park, 60-20.

That would be his only appearance for the Kiwis, but Tinitelia represented Auckland in 1984 and ’85, playing against Australia in the latter season.
