The wait is nearly over for the Senior Men’s and Women’s North Island Championship tournament, kicking off this Saturday at Whangārei’s Kensington Park.
Over two action-packed days, seven districts from throughout the North Island will go head-to-head, with Coastline and the hosting Northern Swords fielding teams in both the Men’s and Women’s Championships.
Here’s everything you need to know before Round 1 on Saturday.

Game day footage will be limited, a full schedule of the games being recorded will be released on Thursday 11 September at 7pm on the Rugby League Northland Facebook page.
Recorded games will be available to view post-game on Saturday and Sunday evening, on Pete’s Filming YouTube page.
McKay Stadium South end – Kensington Avenue
McKay Stadium North end – Western Hills Drive
Kensington Avenue – parallel parking available along Kensington Ave and in the overflow carpark next to Whangārei Netball
Avoid parking on curbs, grass areas, footpaths, and blocking driveways.
A variety of delicious food and beverage will be available all weekend for whānau and supporters to enjoy, with vendors including: Blue Lady, Grayze, Mr Whippy, Patuharakeke Māori Rugby League fundraising, and Ngapuhi Ahi Māori Rugby League fundraising.
