The son of 1948-49 Kiwi Dave Redmond, Auckland centre Wayne Redmond played in one Test for New Zealand against the 1970 Lions.

After leaving Richmond for Glenora, Redmond was chosen in New Zealand’s line-up for the third Test against Great Britain in 1970 after scoring two tries against the tourists for a Northern XIII.

The Kiwis lost the Test 33-16 as the Lions completed a cleansweep, while Redmond backed up two days later to play in Auckland’s 23-8 defeat to the Brits.
