Auckland back-row forward Trevor Hall played two Tests for New Zealand against the 1928 English tourists, before enjoying two fruitful club stints in the Old Dart.

Cambridge-born Hall played for Newton Rangers in the Auckland Rugby League competition and lined up in the second and third Tests against England in 1928. He also played for Auckland and Auckland Province against the visitors.

Hall subsequently accepted an offer from St Helens in 1929 and featured in the club’s 1930 Challenge Cup final loss to Widnes at Wembley.

Returning to Newton Rangers in 1932, Hall represented Auckland against England that season. He went back to England in 1934 and played another two seasons with St Helens, one season with Rochdale Hornets and turned out for Dominion XIII – teams that included fellow New Zealanders George Nepia, Len Mason and Charlie Seeling, and Australian greats Dave Brown and Bill Shankland – against France in 1936 and ’37.
