Waikato forward Tom Timms played one Test in each of the 1928 and 1932 home series against England, either side of touring Australia with the New Zealand side in 1930.
From the Huntly club, the coalminer represented South Auckland against the vaunted Queensland team in 1925 and against England in the 1928 tour opener. He was chosen in the New Zealand pack for the first Test three days later but, despite the 17-13 win at Carlaw Park, missed the rest of the series.
Timms made nine appearances on the 1930 tour of Australia (no Tests were scheduled) and scored tries in wins over Brisbane and Southern Division.
The 28-year-old was chosen in the New Zealand side for the first Test against the 1932 English tourists, a 24-9 loss in Auckland. He scored two tries in South Auckland’s 64-11 loss to England four days later but was overlooked for the remaining Tests.
Timms, who represented North Island until 1934, faced off against the Brits one more time – for South Auckland in a 21-6 loss in 1936.
