Auckland fullback Morrie Rich toured Australia with the Kiwis in 1948.
From the Point Chevalier club, the provincial rep was chosen as Test custodian Warwick Clarke’s understudy for the ’48 trip.
Rich kicked six goals on debut for New Zealand in a 30-16 win over NSW Country in Wollongong. He slotted two more in a 13-7 success against Northern Division in Armidale, and also finished on the winning side in his other two appearances against Central Queensland and Newcastle, where he played at centre and wing, respectively.
