Auckland half Kevin Barry played three tour matches for New Zealand in Australia during the first half of the 1975 World Championship Series.

Barry made his club debut for University in the Auckland competition in 1970 and represented New Zealand Universities the following year. He then joined Mt Roskill and represented Auckland in 1973 and ’75.

The 25-year-old was man-of-the-match on Kiwis debut against Central Queensland and scored four tries in his three matches on tour. He was an unused reserve for the matches against France and England, while injury ruled him out of the second leg of the World Championship Series in the Northern Hemisphere.

Barry’s career petered out thereafter, but he played a season with Glenfield in 1978.
