Waikato loose forward James Jones played three matches on New Zealand’s 1930 tour of Australia.

A long-serving player for the Huntly club, Jones represented South Auckland against the visiting Great Britain side in 1928.

Jones was one of 16 newcomers named in the Kiwis’ squad to go across the Tasman in 1930 and featured in games against Western Division in Bathurst, and against NSW and Metropolis in Sydney.
