Wellington winger Don Munro played three of New Zealand’s 1975 World Championship Series matches.
The Porirua City and Wellington representative stalwart was in the Kiwis’ squad for the 1974 home series against Great Britain but was not called upon.
The following season, he made a spectacular entry in the black-and-white jersey as New Zealand toured country Queensland and NSW ahead of its World Championship Series opener against Australia.
Munro scored four tries on Kiwis debut against North Queensland, before crossing for a double in his second game against Northern Division. He featured in subsequent tour games against NSW Country and North Coast.
After missing out on the side for the clash with Australia, Munro played on the wing in tournament victories over France in Christchurch and Wales in Auckland, and the draw with England at Carlaw Park. But he was absent from the squad for the European leg of the World Championship Series later that year.
Munro continued representing Wellington, including in the 1978 AMCO Cup in Australia.
