Winger Clarry McNeil toured Australia with the Kiwis in 1938, playing three matches.

The Thames rugby union convert played in Richmond’s 1934 win over Sydney club Western Suburbs and was a prolific tryscorer during Mount Albert’s 1935 campaign.

McNeil represented Wellington against Great Britain in 1936, when he was playing for the St George club. He transferred to Randwick in 1937.

Returning to Mount Albert in 1938, McNeil scored three tries for Auckland against a Rest of North Island combination and represented North Island to earn a spot in the New Zealand squad.

McNeil featured in the Kiwis’ 37-18 win over NSW at the SCG, a 23-2 defeat of North Coast at Lismore and scored a try in a 26-15 victory against NSW Group 4 in Tamworth.

He played his last season of rugby league in 1939, later returning to rugby union and turning out for Thames.
