Murray Patterson’s Kiwis career consisted of six matches and no Tests, but he made a sizeable impact on New Zealand’s 1959 tour of Australia.
The long-serving Marist winger led the Kiwis squad with nine tries, dotting down on debut against Northern Division before notching four-try hauls in consecutive matches against Central Queensland and Wide Bay-Burnett during the later stages of the tour.
In 1960, Paterson represented Auckland against France and scored a try in the province’s Northern Union Cup success against Canterbury.
