Test series successes in England have been rare for New Zealand in the 110-year history of hostilities against the home side.

Since the first in 1908 between the All Golds and the Northern Union – which the All Golds won 2-1 – New Zealand sides have won three of the 16 three-match series played.

The other two triumphs were the 2-1 victory achieved by the Roy Christian-captained Kiwis in 1971 (the first series win by an official New Zealand team) and a 2-0 outcome – with the third Test drawn – for the Quentin Pongia-led 1998 side.

There have also been three drawn series in 1980, 1985 and 2002.
