New Zealand Rugby League is deeply saddened by the passing of former Kiwi #421, Ray Sinel.
Sinel played 10 Tests for the Kiwis from 1962-1969 including two games in the 1968 Rugby League World Cup, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand with two matches played at Carlaw Park.
He was also an Auckland representative and was part of the side that defeated Australia 15-14 in 1969. Sinel was a talented lock and second rower, also making a few appearances on the wing and in the centres later in his career.
Sinel’s impact on the game extended beyond his playing days, as he remained involved in the sport as a stalwart for Ōtahuhu Rugby League and the wider Ōtahuhu community.
New Zealand Rugby League extends its heartfelt condolences to Ray’s family, friends, community, and all those who had the privilege of playing alongside him. His contributions to the game and the Black and White jersey will not be forgotten.
