Wellington back Alec Morris played in two Tests for New Zealand against the vaunted Australian tourists of 1919.
The Wellington rugby union representative switched codes with the Athletic club only weeks before the 1919 series and was selected on New Zealand’s wing for the opening Test, which Australia won 44-21 at the Basin Reserve.
Morris switched to five-eighth for the second Test, a 26-10 victory for the home side in Christchurch, but missed the remaining two Tests. He also played on the wing for Wellington in the tour closer, scoring all of its points from a try and a goal as Australia racked up a 93-5 win.
He was granted reinstatement to rugby union with the Poneke club in 1922.
