Wellington utility-back Robin Strong toured Britain and France with the 1965 Kiwis.

From the Waiwhetu club, Strong was a try-scorer on the wing for Wellington against South Africa as a 18-year-old in 1963 and was still only 20 when chosen for New Zealand two years later.

Strong made 11 appearances on tour, making his debut against Bradford Northern. After playing in eight games on the English leg, he scored a try in all three of his outings in France – against Provence XIII, Midi Selection and L’Aude Selection.

He later represented Southern Zone against Queensland in 1967 and played softball for New Zealand at the 1968 world championships.
