Wellington forward Cecil King played 16 matches for New Zealand against Australian opposition in 1912-13.

A Wellington rugby union rep, King toured Australia with the New Zealand rugby league team in 1912 and made five appearances – debuting in a win over NSW and scoring a try after coming on as a reserve against a Kangaroos combination.

King lined up against the NSW tourists on home soil later in 1912 for Wellington and New Zealand.

Heading to Australia again with New Zealand in 1913, King lined up in eight tour matches and dotted down in a big win over Queensland at The Gabba. He subsequently turned out for Taranaki and New Zealand as NSW embarked on another tour later that year.

King also played for Auckland club Newton Rangers in 1913 and played one match for that province.

In 1914, King scored two tries in Taranaki’s 43-11 loss to England.
