Marist second-rower Ron Duffy toured Britain and France with the 1961 Kiwis.

An Ellerslie junior, Duffy was restricted to seven appearances on tour – debuting in a win over Castleford-Featherstone and scoring a try in a big victory over Halifax-Huddersfield. He also featured in the match that attracted the biggest crowd of the tour, a 28-6 defeat to Wigan.

During the tour, Duffy also had the honour of turning out at loose forward for Rest of the World against France in Paris, playing alongside the likes of Ray French, Bev Risman and South African greats Fred Griffiths and Tom Van Vollenhoven. France prevailed 21-20 at Parc des Princes.

The Auckland rep was later a player-coach at Mangere East.
