Long-serving Wellington front-rower Bob Paul played two Tests for New Zealand in 1972 after gaining selection for that season’s tour of Australia and the World Cup in France.
Taranaki-born Paul, a rugby union player for Waitara, switched codes played for Marist and Wellington from 1965-72.
The 29-year-old was part of a new-look Kiwis squad to head across the Tasman in 1972 and came into the team for the second Test at Lang Park, replacing provincial teammate Robert Orchard. Australia won 31-7.
After turning out for New Zealand Māori against Auckland later that season, Paul went to the World Cup and featured in the 20-9 loss to hosts France.
