Originally from Christchurch, Pearce played for Marist and Canterbury before heading south in 1928.
Pearce turned out for the Christian Brothers club, represented Otago and broke into the South Island team in 1930.
The speedy centre/winger played four matches for New Zealand on their 1930 tour, debuting in a win over Western Division and featuring in losses to NSW, Ipswich and Metropolis.
