Ponsonby forward Joseph Meadows toured Australia with the New Zealand side in 1921.

Formerly with the Athletic club in Wellington, Meadows joined Ponsonby in 1921 and earned an immediate national call-up.

He debuted for New Zealand in a pre-tour match against Auckland and made three appearances in Australia, playing at hooker against Toowoomba and Wide Bay, and in the second-row against Ipswich.

Meadows represented Auckland against New Zealand Māori in 1922.
