The prestigious Pirtek Volunteer of the Month award sees members of our grassroots rugby league community across Aotearoa recognised for their dedication, hard mahi, and service to the game.
This award is given to volunteers who display the core values of NZRL’s Kiwi Way: being family first, innovative, inclusive, respectful, respectful and humble. New Zealand Rugby League is proud to announce the third winner for 2024, the Pirtek Volunteer of the Month award for July goes to Jah Tuaiti.
Jah is a proud member of the Pacific Sharks Rugby League Club in Tokoroa and was deservingly nominated for this award off the back of her outstanding mahi as a volunteer.
Coming from a family of Sharks, her great-grandfather was part of the club’s formation in 1969 and was succeeded by her grandfather, father, and brother who all donned the Sharks jersey. Now Jah continues her family’s legacy through her selfless dedication and commitment to serve the club and its people.
Currently in her second season as the Sharks Premier Manager, Jah’s ambitious character and desire to give back has seen her take on additional roles as a club committee member, Senior Co-ordinator, and Club Apparel Manager.
As the manager of the premier sides she works tirelessly to ensure each player is welcomed, supported, and organised across the board from registrations, fees, and apparel, to travel and equipment.
Jah also works hard alongside the club’s apparel supplier helping produce an impressive and wide apparel range that the club’s community is proud of and caters to all. An objective she set was for Sharks players, supporters, and members to all look uniform as one, kotahi, which she has achieved in her time as manager.
No task is too big for her as she constantly strives to make a positive difference, through planning and developing initiatives for the club so that it can continuously become better for future generations of players to come.
Jah is described by her fellow Sharks club members as “a young mana wāhine who always puts others first, dedicating her time and energy to the club she loves. She is the heartbeat of our senior group, a backbone that holds us together. She brings forth energy, holds awesome morals, has a vibrant approach and loves giving back to her people. We are extremely grateful to have her at our club.”
Pirtek CEO Chris Bourke says, “We are thrilled to congratulate Jah Tuaiti on being awarded the Pirtek Volunteer of the Month for her outstanding dedication and service to the Pacific Sharks. Her tireless efforts, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to the club exemplify the true spirit of community and leadership.”
Congratulations Jah from New Zealand Rugby League!
