Versatile Wellington back George Bradley toured Australia twice in the early-1910s and played Test football for New Zealand either side of World War I.

A centre, wing and five-eighth on New Zealand’s tour of Australia in 1912, Bradley scored a hat-trick of tries in the visitors’ second win over Queensland. On the following season’s trip he added fullback and halfback to his bow, while he was regularly used as a goalkicker.

The ex-South Canterbury and Wellington rugby union rep also represented both Wellington and New Zealand against the touring New South Wales team in 1912 and ’13.

Bradley, from Athletic RLFC, was chosen in the centres for New Zealand’s one-off Test against England in 1914, a 16-13 loss in Auckland.

With international rugby league back on the agenda after the war, Bradley pulled out of New Zealand’s tour of Australia in 1919 but played all four home Tests against Australia later that season – three at centre and one at five-eighth. Bradley kicked a goal in the second and third Tests. He was also in the Wellington side that suffered a 93-5 loss to the Les Cubitt- and Harold Horder-inspired visitors in the last match of the tour.
