Auckland five-eighth John Lang played in one Test for New Zealand against the 1919 Australian tourists.
Playing for the Maritime club, Lang did not make the tour to Australia earlier in 1919 but was chosen for New Zealand’s first Test match in five years, the series opener versus the visitors from across the Tasman at the Basin Reserve. He was left out of the side following the 44-21 defeat.
Lang was denied reinstatement to rugby union in 1921, instead joining Marist Old Boys in the ARL competition. He was a regular for Auckland and represented a Provincial XIII against Great Britain in 1924, before joining Grafton Athletic.
