New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) is committed to transforming the lives and wellbeing of its people and communities, bringing to life the philosophy of ‘More Than A Game.’ We have a duty to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our people by ensuring rugby league is a safe space that enables and empowers our tamariki and rangatahi to flourish fully in society. We recognise that outside of education, sport and recreation is the largest sector for child/young people engagement therefore creating a safe environment for all involved is critical. NZRL is committed to safeguarding the children and young people it supports, while also supporting the rugby league sector with developing and embedding its safeguarding culture. We are committed to working with stakeholders to be ‘Safe Organisation’ focused on their own safeguarding journey. Doing so will support partners in taking a holistic approach to safeguarding, one that protects everyone (children, staff and the organisation). We are dedicated to creating a rugby league environment that prevents abuse and ensures the wellbeing of all.
