US-born Roy Proebstel toured Australia with the New Zealand team in 1913.

Proebstel moved to New Zealand as a seven-year-old and was part of the Petone side in the inaugural 1913 WRL competition, as well as representing Wellington.

The winger was chosen in the New Zealand squad that went across the Tasman and made six appearances, scoring tries in wins over Queensland and NSW.
