A North Shore rugby union first five-eighth who represented Auckland, the 22-year-old was selected for the 'professional All Blacks' tour in 1907 and made more appearances than any other player in Britain and Australia (45) and was the squad's top tryscorer (27).
Wynyard played in all eight Test matches and scored two tries in each of New Zealand's maiden Tests against England and Australia. He also scored tries in the other two Test matches against Australia.
The captain in Auckland's inaugural provincial match against Wellington in 1908, he an older brother Billy were part of the formation of the North Shore Albions club in 1909.
