Tom Haddon biography

Veteran forward Tom Haddon played two Tests for New Zealand during the 1919 series against Australia.Haddon played for North Shore, Grafton and - after serving in World War I - City Rovers, from where he represented Auckland in a historic Northern Union Cup match against Hawke's Bay at Eden Park in 1919.Later that year he came into the New Zealand pack for the last two matches of the four-Test rubber against the Australian tourists, featuring at lock in 34-23 loss and at prop in a 32-2 defeat, both in Auckland.Haddon reportedly gained clearance to head to Australia in 1920 and played in Eastern Suburbs' lower grades but suffered a broken leg. He later played for Devonport and was involved with Mount Albert as a coach, manager and selector after hanging up the boots.
