Auckland winger Roy Nurse played in New Zealand's first post-WWII Test.The Welsh-born flyer was a mainstay for Ponsonby from the mid-1930s but was a contentious omission from the Kiwis' 1939 tour of Britain - which was abandoned after just three games due to the outbreak of the war - after scoring two tries for North Island.He played for Auckland against the 1946 Great Britain tourists before lining up on of the flank in the one-off Test at Carlaw Park, which New Zealand won 13-8.Nurse backed up for Auckland in the tour closer two days later and scored its only try in a 22-9 loss to the Lions.He was a Kiwis triallist in subsequent seasons as well as continuing to be a prolific tryscorer for Auckland.
