Versatile back Harold Rowe was a prominent performer on the 1907-08 'All Golds' tour.

A former rugby union player for Auckland club Newton, Rowe played in all three of the 'professional All Blacks'' matches against NSW (under union rules) en route to Britain.

The 24-year-old scored four tries in his first five appearances in Britain, including New Zealand's first try in its first official match against Bramley. Meanwhile, he was in the centres for the 9-8 loss to Wales - New Zealand's first Test match - and the 18-16 defeat in the series opener against England, where he scored a try, and the subsequent clash with Northern Union.

Rowe was in outstanding tryscoring touch on the Australian leg of the tour on the return home, scoring a hat-trick against Newcastle and four tries against Northern Division the space of four days. Playing on the wing, he scored two tries as New Zealand won the second Test against Australia in Brisbane.

Rowe represented Auckland in 1908 and returned to Australia with the New Zealand team in 1909. He scored three tries in a big win over Queensland, two tries in a victory against NSW and featured in all three Tests of the 2-1 series loss in the centres - including scoring all of New Zealand's points (one try, one goal) in the 10-5 defeat in the second match in Brisbane.

Joining English club Leeds for the 1909-10 season, Rowe scored a try in the club's Challenge Cup final replay victory over Hull FC.

Rowe later coach Auckland against the crack Australian tourists of 1919.
