Tough Ellerslie and Auckland prop Lyndsay Proctor played 13 Tests for New Zealand from 1974-78.
The national age-group rep turned 21 a month before getting his first Kiwis call-up for the series opener against the 1974 Lions.
An ankle injury in the 13-8 win at Carlaw Park ruled Proctor out of the rest of the series, but he returned to play in six of New Zealand's eight matches during the 1975 World Championship Series. He scored a try in the 12-all draw with France in Marseille.
Proctor featured in the loss to Great Britain and win over France at the 1977 World Cup, while he was also an integral part of Auckland's 'Grand Slam' achievement in beating Australia, Great Britain and France that year. He spent the following off-season with English club New Hunslet.
The 26-year-old belatedly got a crack at the Australians on the Kiwis' 1978 tour, lining up at prop in all three matches of the whitewash series loss to the world champions, as well as the historic one-off Test win over Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby.
Proctor represented New Zealand MΔori and Auckland against the 1981 French tourists. He was awarded a Queen's Service Medal in 1988 for his services to the New Zealand Police Force.
Lyndsay's nephew, Kevin Proctor, played 22 Tests for the Kiwis from 2012-19 and made 283 NRL appearances for Melbourne and Gold Coast.
