Richmond and Auckland stand-off Stan Prentice played in two Test series for New Zealand, seven years apart.

Debuting for Auckland in 1926, Prentice was regarded as an unlucky omission from the Kiwis' squad to tour Britain that year.

The 25-year-old earned his initial call-up to the national side in 1928, lining up at five-eighth in the 17-13 win over England in the series opener, the 13-5 loss in the second Test and the 6-5 defeat in the decider.

A captain of Richmond and an Auckland regular, Prentice was recalled by the New Zealand selectors as a 32-year-old for the 1935 series against Australia. He played at five-eighth in the first (a 22-14 win) and third (a 31-8 loss) Tests, having missed the second match with a leg injury.

Prentice retired at the end of the season and moved into coaching with the Mount Albert club, as well as coaching Auckland in 1939.
