Harold Milliken biography

Born: February 27, 1914 - Christchurch
Died: January 10, 1993 - Takapuna
Test record: 0 Tests
Tours: 1939 tour of Britain

Dual international Harold Milliken represented the Kiwis on the ill-fated 1939 tour of Britain - a year after making his debut for the All Blacks.

The long-serving Canterbury rugby union lock played all three Tests on the All Blacks' 1938 tour of Australia but switched codes the following season with Auckland club Papakura.

Milliken impressed enough in his first season - including representing North Island - to earn selection in the Kiwis' squad. The 25-year-old was one of five players to feature in both matches against St Helens and Dewsbury before the tour was called off due to the outbreak of World War II.

He subsequently served with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the Pacific during the war, after which he was reinstated to rugby union.
